I'm ready for the rice fields!

Chinese New Years in California

We had a lot of fun in California for New Years. Our flight there was great. I have to say, we are blessed b/c Kai is really a great traveler. He got WINGS from Southwest! On our first day, we went to Huntington Beach so that Kai could experience the water for the first time. We then spent the next day celebrating New Years, and Kai got a chance to meet all his cousins (mostly girls!), hung out, and get hugs and kisses from them. Jason got a chance to go out for a half day of sportfishing in the local fishing area with my brother. He enjoyed that very much.

Kai now says "mama", although we are teaching him to say "dada". He is growing up faster than we can imagine. Jason & I are AMAZED at the things he does. He is so sweet, so happy, and has a great personality that is filled with laughs and giggles constantly. He drinks out of a sippy cup, ADORES Star, can pull himself up on his crib, and can even pull himself from a sitting position to an almost standing position.

Jason & I have been working and praise weekends...they don't come soon enough. With my work schedule on Saturdays, it feels like Sundays is my only weekend day, and that is just not long enough to spend with Jay, Kai, and Star. I am in the process of looking for a new job so that I can have Saturdays off. Jason went fishing this morning at the crack of dawn. He said that he woke up around 4 times throughtout the night, anxious to fish. Unfortunately, by 9 am, there was still a cold front so he did not catch anything. He is asleep right now so that he'll have enough energy to go back out tomorrow morning.

We are trying hard to finish up this house here so that we can start building the new house. Our commitment is that we'll be done hopefully in five to six months.

That's our update. Leslie, Bruce, Papa...thanks for the cool stuff from your trip. We will be taking pictures of Kai in your shirts before he grows out of them. Barbara, thanks for the great book for Kai when you came over here. I wish you had more time to spend but understand the drive is far. I'll post more pics and have a few Youtube recordings I'll send links to. Hope all is well with everyone!

Time for catch up!

Kai all bundled up outside...then nice and toasty in the car.

Jason & Star at the frozen fountain

yes, we are way overdue...but doesn't it make it so much more exciting? (j/k) So let's start with pics in Feb. We went over to the frozen fountain on a nice, sunny, but brisk day.
